Joker "doesn't follow anything" from comic source

In the Empire exclusive look at the film ahead of it's magazine release in August, director Todd Phillips has come out and said that the new Joker film has taken no leads from the DC source material. In an interview with Empire, Phillips said "We didn't follow anything from the comic-books... We just wrote our own version of where a guy like Joker may come from." Joker will be released in cinemas on October 4th.

It seems as if Spider-Man may become a billion dollar franchise after all, as the newest hit Far From Home has already made $580 million worldwide in it's opening week. From Box Office Mojo, the opening weekend for the film was set at $93 million domestic. However, this does not count the opening few days of the film, making the total domestic box office at a huge $185 million, exceeding many people's expectations. The biggest box-office number for any Spider-Man film as of right now is Spider-Man 3 with $890 million, but that should be comfortably taken over in the next few weeks.

Whilst the film was only announced in May, there are already some major casting announcements made for the new Saw film. Samuel L. Jackson, Max Minghella and Marisol Nichols have all joined the film, which is currently in production. Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II-IV) is set to direct, with Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg (Jigsaw) credited as writers. The movie is set to release in 2020.
