Film Review: A Simple Favour (2018)

A Simple Favour (2018) is a drama thriller that takes a twist on the typical crime films. Directed by Paul Feig (whose works include the remake of Ghostbusters (2016) and Bridesmaids (2011), he follows his previous films that are female centric, casting Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively in the lead roles. This story focuses on Stephanie (Kendrick), a mother and vlogger who reports on the disappearance of her friend Emily (Lively), and the story is told through a mix of the vlogs and in person, watching the intricate details of the mysterious case unfold.
To begin, the advertising campaign for this film was gorgeous. I am in love with the poster for this film, as it looks so sophisticated and really gives nothing away about the plot of the movie. All I knew about the film going in was that it was about a crime. I am not usually a fan of crime thrillers, yet this intrigued me due to being so different to the others. I am also a huge fan of Blake Lively in particular, having watched her in

The Road to The Last Jedi

This may come to a shock to you, but as of right now I have only seen the original trilogy of the Star Wars franchise. The films weren’t something I was raised up with watching, nor was it something that I cared about catching up with. Until now.

Whilst I enjoyed the original series, I don’t think I liked them as much as I should had. That is why I am giving the series another franchise. I plan on seeing the latest film on opening day in cinemas, but to do that I must see all eight films (Episodes 1-7 and Rogue One) before the 14th of December.

Based on a film challenge that has been recently utilised a lot in a film forum I am a part of on Facebook (shoutout to all the guys in The Empire Magazine Group, and Andy for starting the trend) I plan on watching and reviewing every film in the franchise. I will be spacing out the movies in between the next three weeks, ready for the new film to be released.

This is a well-loved franchise and I hope I will enjoy this series just as much as most people I know do. Come with me through this journey as I experience the wonders of the force.
